The following are some general guidelines and policies:

1.  Upon acceptance and complete registration into the program, each student will be given a username and a password to enter the program.

2.  No refunds will be given once a student is enrolled into the program.

3.  Upon registration, a student will have three main human contact with ALS: 

  • By Support Staff
  • By IT Department
  • By Instructor

4.  The following means will be used to maintain contact with students:

  • E-mail
  • Telephone
  • Skype calls
  • In some cases faxes

5.  A student’s computer must meet the minimum technology requirements of:

  • Access to a working computer with internet capability, operating system: Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Macintosh OS X
  • Hardware: 256 MB of RAM, 1 GB free hard disk space
  • Microsoft Office 2007 recommended
  • Software: Adobe Acrobat Reader

6.  Students must attend synchronous and asynchronous sessions, except in urgent cases. Any student unable to attend a session must notify his or her instructor immediately by e-mail.

7.  Within every course, students can expect the following:

  • Lesson objectives
  • Lesson introduction
  • Access to synchronous and asynchronous sessions, live and after the delivery of each session
  • Examples
  • Lab
  • Assignments
  • Exams
  • Activities 
  • Possible relevant web resources

8.  IT tracking of each student will be performed in two ways:

  • Electronically by IT personnel to follow each student’s login history
  • Electronically by the instructor to ensure all assignments and lab work was performed in due time

9.  A student who does not login to his or her account for a period of three consecutive days will be contacted by the IT Department. If no answer is received within two calendar days, the student will be contacted by phone to assess and discuss the reasons.

10. Students who are no longer able to continue with the program must contact the instructor and/or Support Staff immediately.

11.  Honesty  and integrity is expected of all students in all areas, including examinations, homework, synchronous, asynchronous, transactions, records, lab work etc.  If a student is found in breach of student policies, the possible sanctions include, but are not limited to, appropriate grade penalties, loss of registration privileges, disqualification and dismissal.

12.  Students who allow other individuals access (through giving the username and password) to the program will be immediately dismissed.
